Terms of use

Terms of use

Last updated: 11 October 2026

These terms apply when you use kenewa.org and the KENEWA members area. By using them you agree to these terms. Your membership itself is governed by the KENEWA constitution, which comes first if anything here differs.

Who we are

Kenyans in New England Welfare Association Inc (KENEWA), incorporated in NSW under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (registration INC2601004), ABN 17 238 522 745, 6A Edinburg Avenue, West Tamworth NSW 2340. Contact: info@kenewa.org.

Your members account

  • Give true and current details, and keep them up to date in the members area.
  • One account per person. Keep your password private and sign out on shared phones or computers.
  • You must be 18 or over to create an account, or have a parent's or guardian's written consent (constitution clause 9.2).
  • Only add family members' details if you have their permission to share them.
  • Don't use other members' details from the register or the members area to contact them for advertising, political, religious, charitable or commercial purposes (constitution clause 12.8).
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

The committee may pause or close an account that is misused, as set out in the constitution, and you can ask for your account to be closed at any time (see the Privacy policy).

Using the members area respectfully

Don't use the website or members area to harass anyone, to post anything false, offensive or illegal, to try to see other members' information, or to interfere with how it works. Votes must be your own.

Payments

Fees are set by the committee and members under the constitution. Only pay to the KENEWA details shown in the members area: we will never ask you to pay a personal account. Recording a payment doesn't confirm it: the Treasurer confirms it once it reaches our account. KENEWA isn't registered for GST, so our prices have no GST and our receipts are not tax invoices. Donations are not tax deductible. See the Refund policy.

Welfare support

Welfare support is decided under the Welfare Fund Policy, based on need and what the fund can afford. Being a member, or meeting the rules, doesn't guarantee a set amount.

The business directory, mentoring and the chama

These help members connect with each other. KENEWA doesn't check, recommend or guarantee members' businesses, mentors or advice, and isn't part of any deal between members. Chama savings belong to the members of each circle and follow the rules they agreed.

Content and copyright

  • The words, logo and design of this website belong to KENEWA. You may share pages and print documents for personal and KENEWA use.
  • Photos belong to the people who took them. Stock photos are used under the Unsplash License (credits). Members' photos are used with permission (how to share or remove a photo).
  • When you share photos or list a business, you confirm you have the right to, and you let KENEWA show them on its website and social media until you ask us to remove them.

Information on this website

We work to keep information accurate, but it's general information, not legal, financial, migration or health advice. The Resources page links to official services for that. Links to other websites are for convenience; we're not responsible for their content.

If something goes wrong

Volunteers run this website and we aim to keep it working, but it may sometimes be unavailable. As far as the law allows, KENEWA isn't responsible for loss caused by the website being unavailable or by relying on its general information. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and we'll tell members about important changes.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
